Public Agenda has just released their latest “Confidence in US Foreign Policy Index” and has partnered with ReThink Media to offer a special online briefing to discuss their key findings. This unique Index tracks the changing state of mind of average Americans with regard to US foreign policy – which issues worry people most, what their greatest priorities are, whether they support or reject current policy approaches and perhaps most importantly, what foreign policy initiatives make the most sense to them.
In this 60 minute online briefing, Scott Bittle, Public Agenda's Director of Public Issues Analysis (read more about Scott below) will focus on the key findings which are most relevant to the work of the PSI Community and will allow for a lengthy discussion and Q&A period regarding the implications of their findings for our outreach, communications and policy work.
Here are just a few of the KEY FINDINGS that will be discussed in greater detail by the research staff of Public Agenda:
- Energy and security are now inextricably linked in the public's mind with a majority strongly favoring a national security strategy that takes concrete steps to decrease America's dependence on other countries for our supply of energy.
- The public's preference for diplomacy, always strong, has increased dramatically, particularly with regard to Iran.
- A growing majority of the public states a clear preference for non-military solutions in the “war on terrorism.”
- In the debate over whether the US should negotiate with unfriendly countries the public heavily supports negotiation particularily in the Middle East.
- Preventing the spread of nuclear weapons is one of the public's top foreign policy priorites, yet the public isn't sure how much can be done.
This special 60 minute online training will take place Tuesday, June 3 at 2PM (EST) | 1pm (CST) | 12 Noon (MST) | 11AM (PST).
Registration is FREE but SPACE IS LIMITED.
